Hey, so I'm kind of stumped on what I should draw for Easter this Sunday. There is a bunny girl OC that I would like to redraw, but I doubt it will go anywhere (won't stop me form drawing it though)

So if anyone has suggestions, feel free to let me know. Just keep it PG and have it be Easter themed!

Deviantart Rant

2 min read

This might come across as "hokey", but its the honest to god truth.

If it weren't for the 500+ people that decided to watch me, the people that fav and reply to my stuff, and the fact that this is only art site where I get consistent results.

I would have left this site by now. Because there's not much else that I like about it anymore.

-Basic features are either removed or put behind Core (and even then they can get gutted like the sorting feature.) When I got Core years ago, I only used it to change my username (which has always been stupid to me)

-A lot of the people that I followed back in DA's hay day are either inactive or gone, either due to Eclipse changes or a certain "oopsey daisy" DA pulled a few years ago.

-I admittedly don't explore this place as much as I used to. Usually I just fav what's on the front page and whatever the people I watch post. The DA mobile app being trash doesn't help things.

-The recent group format change is pointless and confusing.

-Almost every other day I get messages from bots asking to use my art for a mural or something. And occasionally another kind of bot that tags a bunch of users to watch their Youtube.

-I detest how hard this site advocates A!. I hate going into groups and having them be filled with that slop. Burns me even more that DA has the gal to celebrate a parasi-er I mean an "A! Artist" for making a huge profit.

-There another big reason why I'm starting to be a bit uncomfortable using this site, but if I say it, I'll risk getting my account nuked. So I'll keep it to myself...

On a completely unrelated note, check out this cool pixel art study of a watermelon I did a while back!

TLDR: DA sucks and the only reason I'm still here is because of the wonderful people that still support me. I wish someone would do something like Bluesky but with DA. I've heard about SheezyArt for years, is that a good site?

Newgrounds

1 min read

Hello everyone! This is just a reminder that I also have a Newgrounds account and that I'm actively posting there now. I won't be posting everything, but I will be posting my most "successful" art.

It one of the few art sites left that's against AI garbage so I feel obligated to use it more.

Bluesky

1 min read

Hello everyone! Apparently Bluesky is now open for everyone, meaning you don't need codes to get in anymore.

So if anyone wants to follow me there, here's my account!

Bluesky

While its not as snappy, I find it a lot more peaceful than the hellscape that is Twitter.

I did something similar to this last year, but it won't be anywhere near as angry.

Deviantart :

Overall, I think I made some great progress! Hit both 400 and 500 follower milestone within the same year(THANK YOU!!) Got some cool birthday art from @VixDojoFox and made a really good friend in @SeriesArtistStarter. He commisioned me twice after I drew some his favorite characters, offered me a Bluesky code, and let me know about an art contest here which I placed high in. I also participated in a collab celebrating Brawl's anniversary.

In terms of what I didn't like, I feel like I could've gotten more people for the OC Portraits. Also they need to do something about the "Watch my Youtube video" and the "Use your art as a muse" spam accounts.

Tumblr:

I feel like I'm making progress but it's still a bit slow. The Fusion Samus and the Ash's Pokemon art did surprisingly well over there. I stopped using it for anything besides posting my own art years ago, but I do want to go back to regularly using it. The new layout is a mixed bag though.

Twitter

Good ol Twitter. Or is it "X" now? Well whatever it's called, my opinion on it has only gotten worse after the Muskrat took over. I believe the gallery feature is the only goodchange to come out. The other changes sucked with the only justification being that they would somehow stop the bot issue (which has only gotten worse btw)

In terms of progress, I'm not exactly sure if I would call it a success or not. I did make some good friends there and got one of my favorite artists to follow me back. I joined a Fighting Game OC Zine, which was fun. One of my artworks (the Prime Sonic one) got 700+ likes, which is more than I've gotten on anything. Even managed to get Deven Mack (Voice of Prime Sonic) and Jirard the Completionist to like it. While I think the latter is a POS now, this happened long before he got exposed for charity fraud.

Anyways, that's pretty much the highlight for Twitter. Didn't gain much follower after hitting 200 and the bulk of the followers I did get were bots. No other art posts got close to the success of the Prime Sonic one. The thing I hate the most is how getting noticed on Twitter is almost entirely luck based. I made an art piece celebrating a mutual's birthday and they didn't even acknowledge it despite tagging them and retweeting it several times. I won't blame them, but I will blame the crappy algorithm and the higher ups that refuse to properly explain how it works.

I'll still use Twitter, but I genuinely believe it is a terrible platform for small artists. Don't even get me started on the AI techbro clowns.

Other

-Joined Newgrounds but abandoned it early because I didnt think I was making progress. I do want to try again next year though.

-Joined Bluesky, and while it's a bit clunky and less lively than Twitter, I feel like I've made more progress there.

-Participated in Artfight. Was not used to seeing my OC's drawn by other people, but it was a wonderful experience. Definitely doing it again next year!

-Got some Fiverr sales as well as my first longterm gig. It was good, but the client randomly decided to ghost me.

Overall pretty good year art-wise. Hope to have an even better one in 2024!
